New Blog Area

I have started a new blog for Swains Creek Lot Owners to post items for discussion and share information. Hope this will help to keep us all informed about what is happening on the mountain.
Please... let's keep this as positive and informative as possible. Let's not have a gripe session!! And no personal attacks or bad language!!

An open letter to
Swain’s Creek Pines Lot Owners Assoc.
Board of Directors:

October 10, 2009

Having recognized the hazards, nuisance noise and dust being generated by heavy construction vehicles traveling within Swain’s, several concerned Lot Owners have petitioned the County Land Use Authority to take action against a construction company operating in violation of a zoning ordinance just outside Harris Spring Ranches.
I regret that I was unable to contact all of the Lot Owners to determine if a majority would be in favor of protecting their property value and the safety of their family, friends and neighbors by supporting the enforcement of the ordinance and signing the petition.
This Board refused to support that lawful action by stating that it would not be representing a majority of Lot Owners. Doesn’t everyone benefit from the elimination of a potential, public safety hazard? One might expect you would readily accept the opportunity to act promptly and positively to mitigate the possibilities of an unfortunate accident; Costing not one penny of Association funds, but only the stroke of a pen.
Were you representing the majority when authorizing initial and ongoing expenses for “Wi-Fi at the barn?” Does a horse corral serve the majority to the tune of $8000.00 plus? Are the majority of Lot Owners aviators?
This type of inaction is characteristic of what one might expect from the typical “good-ol’-boy” system …… “You do me a favor and I’ll look the other way.” You would think common sense and strong, moral conscience would guide those who willingly place themselves in a position that rightly demands both attributes to do the job, but these qualities plus integrity seldom if ever exist, today.
I, for one, am appalled at your hypocrisy and lame excuses. And I am confident that there is a majority happy to see a few of the major players reach the end of their terms and hopefully retire to oblivion.
I pray that there are enough among us who will recognize the many levels of danger involved with an authoritative body that shares this mindset. And I hope they will campaign and vote accordingly in future elections.

Sincerely,
Ted Long
